Your new company Hays Facilities Management are delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Senior Facilities Operations & Safety Manager to join the world-renowned London-based university on an interim basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Facilities Management professional with strong operational leadership and health & safety expertise to lead facilities services across a diverse property portfolio. The successful candidate will oversee operational delivery, compliance, stakeholder management, contractor performance, and facilities teams while driving service improvements across multiple locations.
- Facilities Management
- Lead the day-to-day delivery of facilities management services across multiple sites.
- Manage building operations, contractor performance, cleaning, security, and soft services.
- Develop facilities policies, procedures, and operational standards.
- Support new facilities projects, refurbishments, and estate developments.
- Build strong relationships with landlords, service providers, and key stakeholders.
- Health & Safety
- Lead health & safety compliance across the estate.
- Develop and implement health & safety policies, risk assessments, and procedures.
- Manage audits, inspections, incidents, and corrective action plans.
- Deliver training and promote a positive health & safety culture.
- Chair health & safety meetings and provide expert advice to stakeholders.
- Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, motivate, and develop facilities staff and direct reports.
- Manage resource planning, performance, and service delivery.
- Drive high standards of customer service and stakeholder engagement.
- Support recruitment, induction, and training of team members.
- Financial & Operational Management
- Manage facilities budgets, procurement activities, suppliers, and contractors.
- Ensure value for money and efficient service delivery.
- Identify and implement service improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Support strategic planning and business continuity initiatives.
What you'll need to succeed
- Essential
- Significant Facilities Management experience within a complex environment.
- NEBOSH or IOSH qualification.
- Proven experience managing facilities operations and service delivery teams.
- Strong understanding of health & safety legislation and compliance.
- Experience managing budgets, suppliers, and contractors.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
- Desirable
- Experience within Higher Education, Public Sector, Healthcare, or similarly complex estates.
- Project management experience.
- Experience supporting estate developments or refurbishment programmes.
