We are delighted to support a leading London university in recruiting a Security Coordinator to join their Estates and Facilities directorate. This is an excellent opportunity to step into a senior operational role within a large, diverse campus environment, ensuring safety, service excellence and effective team leadership.
As Security Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining high standards of safety, security and service delivery across the university's sites. You will supervise Security Officers, oversee day-to-day operations, and act as a senior point of contact for incident management, emergency response and team performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and supervising Security Officers and control room operations.
- Responding to and managing emergencies, including fire alarms, first aid incidents, intruder alerts, major disruptions and other urgent situations.
- Ensuring the effective operation and maintenance of security systems such as CCTV, access control and patrol monitoring.
- Conducting investigations, producing accurate reports, viewing CCTV footage and preparing evidence when required.
- Managing staff rotas, maintaining adequate cover, overseeing leave and ensuring correct deployment on every shift.
- Carrying out regular site patrols, welfare checks and stakeholder engagement.
- Delivering daily operational briefings and contributing to training, inductions and ongoing staff development.
- Supporting the Security Management team with audits, risk assessments, hardware checks and project activity.
- Maintaining exceptional standards of customer service, visibility and professionalism across campus.
What you'll need to succeed:
- A valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence (essential).
- Supervisory experience within the security industry.
- Experience using and managing security systems including CCTV, access control and patrol technology.
- Strong incident management capability and the confidence to take initiative in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Good IT proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel) and the ability to produce reports and maintain accurate records.
- Ability to lead teams, motivate staff and deliver training.
- Physical fitness to participate in emergency responses and site patrols.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a wider team.
Desirable: CCTV licence, first aid training, mental health first aid, experience in higher education settings.
