As an Associate Process Safety Consultant, you will play a key role in delivering and managing a diverse portfolio of client and internal projects. You will work closely with clients to improve the design, operation and maintenance of hazardous process facilities, applying your site-based experience to a wide range of industries. This is a customer-facing role, involving work across multiple projects simultaneously, both independently and as part of multi-disciplinary teams. Projects will span high-hazard environments including chemical manufacturing, bulk storage, warehousing and related facilities across sectors such as chemicals, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, explosives, waste-to-energy and hydrogen-related industries supporting energy decarbonisation initiatives.

The role will involve travel to client sites across the UK, ranging from short visits to longer site-based assignments as required.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing process engineering standards, methodologies, procedures and supporting tools for clients.
  • Conducting audits and technical reviews to assess compliance between documented procedures and site practices.
  • Leading and participating in hazard identification and risk assessment studies, including HAZID, HAZOP and LOPA.
  • Providing process engineering input to design reviews, EHS studies and engineering projects.
  • Delivering DSEAR-related consultancy and regulatory support.
  • Undertaking on-site surveys of process plant to verify documentation and produce as-built information where required.
  • Supporting the preparation of COMAH safety documentation and risk assessments.
  • Managing project delivery to agreed quality, budget and timescale requirements while ensuring client expectations are met.
  • Contributing to the development of cost-effective, practical solutions that support client sustainability and growth objectives.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • A degree in Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering.
  • Demonstrable experience within chemical or process-based manufacturing environments, including exposure to operational plant.
  • Strong knowledge of UK process safety legislation and standards, such as COMAH, DSEAR and associated guidance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • A collaborative, team-focused approach, with the confidence to contribute within multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • High personal integrity, sound professional judgement and a proactive approach to problem solving.

You will join a supportive consultancy environment that places strong emphasis on technical development and career progression. A competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package are offered, alongside flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
