Are you a hands-on Facilities and Health & Safety professional looking for a part-time role where you can make a real impact? This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of site safety, facilities standards, and compliance within a busy engineering and manufacturing environment. Working closely with the senior leadership team, you will ensure the site remains safe, efficient, well maintained, and fully compliant. This role would suit someone who enjoys being visible on site, solving practical problems, improving systems, and creating a positive safety culture across both workshop and office areas.
Your new role
- You will take the lead on all health, safety, and environmental compliance across the business.
- Develop, implement, and maintain practical H&S policies and procedures in line with UK legislation.
- Ensure compliance with key requirements including HSE guidance, COSHH, PUWER, manual handling, and safe systems of work.
- Carry out and review risk assessments, method statements, and site safety documentation.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and driving corrective actions.
- Keep accurate H&S records and ensure documentation is organised, up to date, and audit-ready.
- Deliver engaging health and safety inductions, refresher training, and toolbox talks.
- Help employees understand their responsibilities and build confidence in safe working practices.
- Support managers and supervisors in promoting a proactive, safety-first approach on the shop floor.
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and standards across the site.
- Carry out internal audits, inspections, and compliance checks to maintain high standards.
- Act as the main contact for external inspections, insurers, auditors, and relevant authorities.
- Maintain compliance registers, including equipment checks, PPE, fire safety, training, and inspection records.
What you'll need to succeed
- Previous experience in a Health & Safety, Facilities, or combined site management role.
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent health and safety qualification.
- IOSH membership or similar professional recognition.
- Experience working in SME environments.
- Familiarity with engineering processes, workshop operations, or hands-on manufacturing environments.
- Experience within engineering, manufacturing, industrial, or workshop-based environments would be highly beneficial.
- Strong working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and compliance requirements.
- Confident in carrying out risk assessments and implementing practical H&S systems.
- Experience managing contractors, facilities services, and site maintenance activities.
- Able to work independently, prioritise effectively, and make sound decisions in a part-time role.
