A long-established engineering business specialising in bespoke air filtration and product collection systems for sectors such as food, pharmaceuticals, minerals and chemicals is seeking to expand its team. Due to recent growth, the company is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Project Engineer to join its experienced technical team.

The ideal candidate will have a mechanical engineering background, qualified to HND level or above, with the ability to liaise confidently with clients and suppliers. Experience in air movement or materials handling is beneficial but not essential. Candidates with strong AutoCAD 2D and SolidWorks 3D draughting skills who wish to progress into Project Management are also encouraged to apply.

Typical Responsibilities
  • Project management of contracts from sales handover through to delivery or installation.
  • Assisting with - and eventually leading - site surveys and measurements.
  • Producing plant layouts, general assemblies, and fabrication drawings using AutoCAD LT (2D) and SolidWorks (3D).
  • Purchasing and negotiating with approved suppliers.
  • Working within an ISO9001 quality system.
  • Updating and maintaining job costing spreadsheets.
  • Occasional involvement in installation and commissioning, including short periods working away from home.
  • Conducting progress and final inspections at supplier sites.
  • Preparing data dossiers and O&M manuals.
  • Checking and approving supplier invoices.
Key Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum HND in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; degree preferred.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD LT (2D) and SolidWorks (3D).
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel).
  • Ability to interpret and produce plant layout and fabrication drawings (structural steelwork, sheet metal, heavy plate).
  • Full, clean driving licence.
  • Internal product training provided.
Role Details
  • Full-time, permanent position.
  • Salary range: £38,000 - £45,000 per year.
  • Benefits include: company pension, on-site parking, sick pay, and 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, with increases based on service.
  • Standard schedule: Monday to Friday, with paid overtime available.
  • Candidates must be able to reliably commute to the company's office.
Experience Required
  • Minimum 3 years' draughting experience using AutoCAD 2D and SolidWorks 3D.
  • Project engineering experience within a mechanical-related industry is advantageous; full product training provided.
