Your new company Hays are delighted to be partnering with a well-established and growing food processing and manufacturing business based in County Down to recruit a Production Manager. Operating within the seafood processing sector, the company supplies high-quality products to customers across the UK and global markets. Following continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead production operations and drive performance across the manufacturing facility. Your new role As Production Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the production facility, ensuring operational efficiency, product quality, food safety compliance, and productivity targets are achieved. You will work closely with senior leadership and production teams to maximise throughput, optimise processes, and support the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all daily production activities across the manufacturing facility.
  • Develop and oversee production plans to meet customer requirements.
  • Coordinate workflow across multiple product lines.
  • Ensure production schedules are achieved safely, efficiently, and on time.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop production teams.
  • Manage staffing levels and resource allocation.
  • Monitor operational KPIs and production performance metrics.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the plant.
  • Ensure full compliance with HACCP, food safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Manage inventory levels to support production requirements and supply chain efficiency.
  • Implement and maintain effective quality control procedures.
  • Analyse production data and identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce waste.
  • Collaborate with other departments to achieve business objectives.
  • Support a positive culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Proven experience within a food manufacturing or food processing environment.
  • Previous experience in a Production Manager position.
  • Strong knowledge of production planning and scheduling.
  • Experience managing and improving production KPIs.
  • Sound understanding of HACCP and food safety standards.
  • Knowledge of quality control processes and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and people management abilities.
  • A hands-on leadership style with the ability to motivate teams.
  • Strong forward-planning and organisational skills.

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in Production Management.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in Production Scheduling.
  • Experience within food production or food manufacturing is essential.
