Your new role involves supporting and enhancing health, safety, and environmental performance across various projects within the engineering and construction sectors. This position offers the chance to make a real impact on the safety culture of the organisation, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and promoting best practices across all areas of operations. Reporting to the SHEQ Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing health and safety policies and procedures to ensure the well-being of all team members. You will work closely with various departments to assess risks, conduct safety audits, and drive initiatives that enhance workplace safety across the organisation. Regular site visits (including to third-party managed construction sites) are required 1-2 times per month, where you will monitor site conditions, ensure compliance with internal standards, and represent the company's interests in maintaining a safe working environment for staff. This role is ideally suited for a capable HSE professional seeking to progress their career, with the opportunity to shape and influence the direction of health and safety practices across a growing and established business.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Ideally 5+ years’ experience in a senior HSE role (HSE Advisor or Manager) within engineering or construction sectors, including 3 years in a construction-specific role with strong site-based safety experience.
- Hands-on experience working on construction sites, supporting the implementation and management of Health & Safety protocol.
- Solid understanding of Health & Safety legislation relevant to engineering and construction industries.
- NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent.
- Full driving license.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong team player with the ability to communicate effectively.
