Our client is a leading civil engineering contractor delivering complex infrastructure and energy projects across Scotland, based in Glasgow. They are looking for the services of a Civil Engineering Manager, who has experience in design, construction, and delivery of high-value projects for major clients. This is not a traditional site-based Civil Engineering Manager; they are looking for a senior leader who will oversee the civil engineering function across their Power & Renewables division.
The ideal candidate would likely have:
- Strong civil engineering background in power, utilities, renewables, substations, transmission, distribution, energy, or major infrastructure projects
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Previous responsibility for leading teams and developing engineers
- Strong understanding of:
- Earthworks
- Drainage
- Roads and access infrastructure
- Civil structures
- Site investigation and ground conditions
- Experience contributing to tenders and pre-construction
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of project risk
What you will be doing?
Rather than managing day-to-day site operations, the successful person will:
- Lead the civil engineering strategy for the business.
- Manage and mentor civil engineering teams.
- Oversee civil design consultants.
- Review civil designs and ensure they're buildable and commercially viable.
- Support bid submissions and tendering activities.
- Advise project teams on technical and construction issues.
- Interface with clients and senior stakeholders.
- Ensure consistency, quality and best practice across all projects.
