We have an exciting new opportunity for a Fuel Handler for a fixed-term contract based in Snetterton. You will require current Forklift licences and have a strong awareness of health & safety.
The Fuel Handler is responsible for the safe receipt, handling, storage, and movement of straw bales and other biomass fuels used in the generation of renewable energy. The role involves:
- Operating forklifts and other mobile plant equipment
- Maintaining fuel supply to the boiler system
- Monitoring fuel storage areas
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
Key responsibilities include:
- Receiving, inspecting, and unloading straw deliveries arriving at site
- Safely transporting and stacking straw bales within designated storage areas using a forklift truck
- Maintaining an uninterrupted fuel supply to the power station combustion process
- Monitoring fuel stock levels and reporting shortages or quality issues
- Assisting with fuel feeding operations and ensuring fuel is delivered according to operational requirements
- Conducting routine housekeeping of fuel storage, loading, and operational areas
- Removing waste materials and maintaining clean, organised working areas
- Operating forklifts, telehandlers, loading shovels, or other authorised mobile plant equipment
- Carrying out daily pre-use inspections and defect reporting
- Ensuring equipment is operated safely and in accordance with site procedures and training
- Reporting mechanical defects promptly and assisting maintenance personnel where required
What you'll need to succeed:
- Experience operating forklifts in an industrial, agricultural, logistics, recycling, or power generation setting
- Experience handling bulk materials or biomass products is desirable
- Experience working safely around heavy machinery and moving vehicles
- Valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck Licence (RTITB, ITSSAR, NPORS, or equivalent)
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Basic understanding of health and safety requirements in an industrial environment
