We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Technician to join a busy team working at the port authority. This is a day-based role, working Monday to Thursday 8-4 and a 3pm finish on Friday.

On joining the busy maintenance team, you will assist with:

  • Carrying out planned maintenance, breakdown repairs, refurbishments and installations to maximise plant and equipment performance.
  • Responding to breakdowns and emergency situations during normal working hours and on an out-of-hours call-out basis.
  • Working on a wide range of equipment including dock gate machinery, cranes, vehicles, hydraulics and general infrastructure repairs.
  • Assisting Engineering Maintenance Supervisors in identifying future maintenance requirements.
  • Working alongside external contractors and key suppliers (e.g. UDS, Bay Towage).
  • Undertaking and reviewing risk assessments to facilitate safe maintenance activities.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Proven maintenance experience.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience working on mechanical plant.
  • Good safety awareness and understanding of risk assessments.
