Job Description

Your new company

Our client is a major UK organisation operating within a complex, highly regulated environment, delivering large-scale services and infrastructure projects across the country.

They are investing heavily in the evolution of their business capabilities, operating models and transformation agenda, creating an exciting opportunity for an experienced Business Architect to play a key role in shaping the future direction of the organisation.

This is a business-facing architecture role, working closely with senior stakeholders to ensure strategic initiatives deliver long-term value and align with the organisation's target operating model.

Your new role

As a Business Architect, you will be responsible for defining and evolving key business capabilities, ensuring they have a clear vision, target state and roadmap for future development.

You'll act as the architectural authority for your assigned domains, helping shape investment decisions and ensuring change initiatives are aligned to broader business objectives.

Key responsibilities will include

  • Defining and maintaining capability blueprints, value streams and operating model designs.
  • Creating and managing capability roadmaps aligned to business strategy and transformation priorities.
  • Acting as the Design Authority for assigned capability areas, reviewing and guiding change proposals.
  • Identifying capability gaps, dependencies, risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Supporting business cases and transformation initiatives by providing architectural insight and recommendations.
  • Working with Business Analysts, Change Leads and senior stakeholders to ensure change delivers meaningful capability enhancement.
  • Facilitating workshops and design sessions to gain stakeholder alignment and drive informed decision-making.
  • Collaborating across business, data, process and technology teams to ensure joined-up, enterprise-wide solutions.
  • What you'll need to succeed
  • Experience in Business Architecture, Enterprise Transformation, Operating Model Design or a similar strategic transformation role.
  • Strong knowledge of capability modelling, value streams and business process architecture.
  • Experience working across people, process, data and technology to design and implement organisational change.
  • Previous experience providing design governance, architectural review or design authority oversight.
  • A proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and support strategic decision-making.
  • Strong facilitation, communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts.
  • Experience working within complex, Matrix or regulated organisations.

Desirable experience includes

  • Experience within infrastructure, engineering, construction or asset-intensive industries.
  • Formal Business Architecture or Enterprise Architecture qualifications such as TOGAF or BIZBOK.
  • Experience identifying opportunities for innovation, automation and AI-enabled improvements.
