Your new company

I am working to recruit a Front End Developer/Designer (ideally with Umbraco CMS skills) for a specialist leisure/recreational activity business. This role is hybrid working, with 2 days per week in their Southampton head office.

You will be working with Umbraco CMS in this role for their new corporate website which goes live in June, so you should have experience with this or ideally a similar CMS like Drupal or WordPress. You will be joining one of the longest established leisure organisations in the UK steeped in 150 years of tradition.

Your new role

In this role you will manage all things Front End, blending Dev and Design skills to ensure a clean, on-brand experience. Day to day you will oversee design support, page builds, content edits, and UI/UX best practices. You will proactively enhance website accessibility, customer journeys and overall performance, plus create and maintain documentation for Front End processes.

You will report into the Head of Digital and will be a crucial part of a small but experienced team who are introducing Umbraco to manage over 100k monthly website visitors. Your role will involve managing a Junior Designer (1 initially) and assuming the lead on web projects and digital campaigns, generally driving web best practice.

Communication and interpersonal skills cannot be underestimated. Whether you are in the office or at home you will have high stakeholder engagement, both with the internal team and 3rd party development agency. There is a progression path and structure here to enable you to drive towards a Lead position and management in the future if you desire.

What you will need to succeed

To be considered for these roles you should have 3 years commercial experience working in Front End Development/Design and will ideally have worked with Umbraco or a similar CMS platform. This will be underpinned by good core Front End skills including HTML/CSS/JavaScript/jQuery. Proven experience in UX/UI Design and knowledge of responsive design/web accessibility, Adobe Creative Suite and Technical SEO principles would make the perfect candidate.

What you will get in return

The company are big on investing in training for their Developers. You can expand your skill set and become Certified in Umbraco and other CMS platforms. You will get 28 days holiday (+ bank holidays). They offer up to 10% pension match and flexible working hours across a 35 hour working week. It is a modern office space on days you do go in with great parking and transport links, plus life insurance.
