As Electrical Inspector, you will be responsible for overseeing electrical compliance activities across the council's housing stock, ensuring inspection, testing and remedial programmes are delivered to the required standards. You will work closely with contractors, surveyors and housing teams, undertaking quality assurance inspections and monitoring contractor performance.

Key duties will include:

  • Reviewing EICRs, certification and associated compliance documentation.
  • Undertaking post-inspections and quality audits of electrical works.
  • Monitoring contractor performance against KPIs and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Identifying and escalating electrical safety risks and non-compliant works.
  • Ensuring remedial actions are completed within prescribed timescales.
  • Supporting the management of planned and reactive electrical programmes.
  • Investigating technical issues, complaints and compliance concerns.
  • Maintaining accurate compliance records and performance reporting.
  • Providing professional technical advice to internal stakeholders.
  • Ensuring compliance with current legislation, regulations and council policies.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Experience working within social housing, local authority housing or a comparable residential property environment.
  • Strong knowledge of domestic electrical systems, inspection and testing requirements.
  • Experience reviewing EICRs and electrical compliance certification.
  • Experience undertaking technical inspections and quality assurance checks.
  • Knowledge of contractor management and performance monitoring.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Essential Qualifications:

  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Access to a vehicle for business use.

What you'll get in return:

  • £300 - £350 per day Umbrella (Inside of IR35).
  • 3-month rolling contract with the potential for extension.
  • Opportunity to work on a large and diverse housing portfolio.
  • Hybrid working arrangements where operationally appropriate.
  • Immediate start available.
  • Opportunity to contribute to improving resident safety and housing compliance.
