A leading infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Planner to join their growing delivery team, supporting a portfolio of major transmission and energy projects across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity to take a key role in planning and programme management across complex projects covering design, procurement, and construction phases.
The Role
As Senior Planner, you will be responsible for developing and managing robust project programmes while working closely with delivery teams to ensure successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, optimise and maintain detailed construction programmes, including resources, outages, consents and wayleaves
- Monitor and report progress through programme updates and reporting tools, including weekly trackers
- Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers and commercial teams to ensure programme alignment
- Support integration of cost and planning systems, including earned value reporting (CPI/SPI)
- Provide planning input at tender stage and support project mobilisation and handover
- Manage and maintain risk, issue and opportunity registers in line with change management processes
- Attend client and site meetings as required, ensuring delivery against programme and KPIs
- Ensure programme compliance with contractual requirements and support risk mitigation strategies
- Contribute to continuous improvement and the development of planning best practices across the business
Requirements
- Proven experience in a Senior Planner position within infrastructure, utilities or energy sectors
- Strong experience using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project
- Working knowledge of NEC contracts and Earned Value Management (EVM)
- Experience of change management processes
- Full UK driving licence
- Ideally experience working on Overhead Line (OHL) projects or within National Grid frameworks
