A leading public organisation based in the Hampshire area are currently looking for a Health and Safety Advisor to oversee a wide range of highway civil engineering sites in the local area. This is a 6-month plus rolling contract Outside of IR35.

As the Health and Safety Specialist, you will be working closely with operational teams to ensure safe systems of work are embedded across the various sites. You will:

  • Produce high‑quality risk assessments and method statements using established corporate templates.
  • Undertake in‑house risk assessor training and apply the methodology effectively.
  • Analyse civil engineering and highways activities to identify and mitigate safety risks.
  • Collaborate with operational staff to develop safe and practical working procedures.
  • Review, evaluate and update RAMS to ensure ongoing effectiveness.
  • Work efficiently to deliver accurate documentation within tight timescales.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Strong background working with operational teams to implement safe working practices.
  • Up‑to‑date knowledge of HSE guidance related to RAMS.
  • Working understanding of relevant H&S procedures.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly to managers and frontline staff.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and manage your own workload.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work travel.
  • Experience in the highways sector is desirable.
  • NEBOSH or equivalent qualification is essential.

Competitive hourly rate, Outside IR35. Variety of projects.
