I'm currently working with a well-established regional contractor operating across Berkshire, Wiltshire, and Oxfordshire, who are looking to strengthen their technical design function with the addition of a CAD Technician based out of their Swindon office. This business specialises in delivering technically complex, MEP-heavy projects, with a particular focus on laboratories, clean rooms, and highly controlled environments. About the Role:
This role sits within a contractor-led design and technical team, supporting the delivery of complex projects from concept through to construction. You will be responsible for producing accurate technical drawings and supporting the coordination of building services and architectural elements across multiple projects. Given the nature of the work, there is a strong emphasis on precision, coordination, and understanding of MEP integration within complex environments. This role would suit someone who enjoys working in a detail-driven, technically challenging environment, collaborating closely with design managers, engineers, and site teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce high-quality 2D CAD drawings (and potentially 3D models where applicable)
- Develop detailed technical drawings and layouts for construction
- Assist in the coordination of architectural and MEP services drawings
- Work closely with design managers, engineers, and site teams to resolve technical issues
- Update and amend drawings in line with design changes and site requirements
- Ensure drawings are compliant with regulations, specifications, and project standards
- Support the wider design team in pre-construction and delivery phases
- Maintain accuracy, version control, and documentation standards across multiple projects
What They're Looking For:
- Proven experience as a CAD Technician within construction or the built environment
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit advantageous but not essential)
- Experience working on technical, MEP-heavy or highly serviced projects
- Good understanding of building regulations and construction detailing
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and architectural drawings
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Comfortable working within a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders
Salary & Benefits:
£50,000 - £60,000 (depending on experience)
