Groundsperson Needed! - South East London

University-based, campus sports grounds maintenance!

5 out of 7 days per week, including some weekends.

Must have a full driving licence and previous experience in sports grounds maintenance.

Your new company:

You will be working with a large university in South East London within their grounds maintenance and sports team.

Your new role:

  • Preparation of the sports pitches.
  • To secure buildings and sports ground when matches are being played.
  • To safely use machinery, mostly consisting of tractors and pitch liners.
  • To maintain fine turf areas such as the cricket, football and rugby pitches and tennis courts to the highest level.
  • To clean and maintain the kitchen, pavilion, changing rooms, bar and the toilet facilities.
  • To use specialised horticultural equipment and carry out basic routine maintenance.
  • To carry out routine tree maintenance.
  • To maintain hedges and lawn areas throughout the sports ground.
  • The use of chemicals to treat all areas such as hard court surfaces and fine turf areas.
  • To assist the head of ground staff in the collating and maintaining the chemical log.
  • To carry out responsibility with due regard to colleagues, equal opportunity and the college health and safety policy.
  • Expected to work largely unsupervised.
  • To assist the Head Groundsman at all times to provide a high standard of service and an excellent sports venue.
  • To carry out such duties as may be assigned and agreed from time to time.

What you'll need to succeed:

A driver's licence is essential, along with previous experience working in grounds maintenance and sports grounds roles. Qualifications such as City and Guilds are desirable.
