A well-established main contractor based in Berkshire is looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work. The business operates across healthcare, education, housing, and leisure sectors, delivering projects typically between £3m-£14m. Their work is a mix of new build and refurbishment schemes, predominantly under JCT Design & Build contracts. They have built a strong reputation for delivering quality projects and maintaining long-term relationships with clients across the South. This is a key role within the commercial team, offering the opportunity to take ownership of projects and manage them through the full lifecycle within a stable and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial Management - Take full responsibility for the commercial delivery of projects from pre-construction through to final account
  • Cost Control - Manage project budgets, forecasts, and reporting to ensure financial targets are met
  • Procurement - Lead subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and appointment
  • Subcontractor Management - Manage subcontractor accounts, variations, and payments
  • Valuations - Prepare and manage applications for payment and final accounts
  • Risk Management - Identify and manage commercial risks across projects
  • Collaboration - Work closely with site, design, and senior management teams to ensure smooth project delivery

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor
  • Experience delivering projects in the £3m-£14m range
  • Background across healthcare, education, or leisure projects (preferred)
  • Strong commercial awareness and cost management skills
  • Ability to manage projects independently
  • Good communication and negotiation skills
  • Degree qualified or equivalent (preferred)
  • Full UK driving licence
