You will be working with a leading international construction and infrastructure business with a strong presence in the UK energy sector. The organisation is actively delivering key overhead line (OHL) projects across Scotland, supporting the expansion and reinforcement of the national grid as part of the UK's transition to renewable energy.

Your new role

As a Freelance Project Engineer specialising in Overhead Lines, you will support the delivery of transmission projects across Glasgow and wider Scotland. You will play a key role in coordinating engineering activities on site, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the required quality standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Interpreting technical drawings
  • Supporting site teams with engineering solutions
  • Liaising with design teams to resolve queries
  • Assisting with the preparation of RAMS and construction methodologies
  • Monitoring progress
  • Managing technical issues
  • Ensuring compliance with HSQE standards throughout the project lifecycle

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Proven experience as a Project Engineer on overhead line projects (ideally 132kV-400kV)
  • Strong understanding of OHL construction methodologies including foundations, tower erection, and stringing
  • Experience working with Tier 1 contractors or major infrastructure projects
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
