An established regional contractor is seeking an experienced Working Site Manager to oversee a school refurbishment project in Preston. With ongoing work secured across the North West, this is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Site Manager looking for their next freelance assignment.
You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day running of a live school refurbishment project, ensuring works are completed safely, on programme and to a high standard. This is a hands-on role where you'll be leading trades, coordinating subcontractors and assisting site operations where required.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing subcontractors and site labour
- Overseeing health & safety and site compliance
- Delivering daily briefings and toolbox talks
- Monitoring programme and quality standards
- Coordinating materials and site logistics
- Liaising with the client and project team
- Ensuring minimal disruption within a live school environment
- Supporting site activities to maintain project progress
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Previous experience as a Site Manager on refurbishment projects
- Experience working within schools or live occupied environments desirable
- Valid SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid at Work
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple trades and activities simultaneously
- Proactive, hands-on approach to site management
