A growing specialist construction subcontractor is looking to recruit a highly motivated Contracts Manager / Estimator to join its busy team in North Yorkshire. This is a varied, fast-paced role that combines estimating, commercial awareness, project coordination and client management. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing a high volume of estimates, managing client relationships, coordinating materials and supporting projects through to delivery. This opportunity would suit an ambitious and commercially minded individual who thrives in a busy environment and enjoys taking ownership of projects from enquiry through to completion.

The Role

  • Producing accurate and competitive estimates for a high volume of enquiries, typically around 40 quotations per month.
  • Completing detailed material take-offs from drawings, specifications and tender information.
  • Liaising with clients, main contractors, architects and project stakeholders throughout the tender and delivery process.
  • Managing enquiries from initial contact through to order placement.
  • Coordinating materials, suppliers and logistics to support project delivery.
  • Negotiating supplier pricing and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Monitoring project costs and maintaining commercial awareness throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conducting site visits where required to assess project requirements.
  • Building and developing long-term relationships with clients and contractors.
  • Supporting the operational team to ensure projects run efficiently and profitably.

About You

We're looking for someone who is driven, organised and commercially astute, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment. Applicants should possess:

  • Previous experience within an Estimating, Contracts Management or Project Coordination role.
  • Strong experience carrying out take-offs and producing accurate quotations.
  • Knowledge of construction materials, procurement and project delivery processes.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of tenders and enquiries simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to work independently.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and estimating software where applicable.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
