Your new company Hays are working in partnership with a well-respected engineering consultancy in Omagh to recruit an Energy & Sustainability Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-established practice that delivers innovative mechanical, electrical and sustainable design solutions across commercial, education, healthcare and public-sector projects. With sustainability becoming an increasingly important aspect of modern building design, this role offers the opportunity to influence projects from concept stage through to completion, helping clients reduce energy consumption, lower carbon emissions and meet environmental targets. Your new role Working as part of a multidisciplinary design team, you will support the delivery of sustainable and energy-efficient building solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects. You will be involved in energy assessments, sustainability appraisals, low-carbon design strategies and building performance analysis, helping clients achieve both regulatory compliance and long-term environmental objectives. Key responsibilities will include: Undertaking energy and sustainability assessments for new-build and refurbishment projects. Supporting building performance modelling and energy calculations. Assisting with compliance assessments against current Building Regulations and energy standards. Advising on low-carbon and renewable energy technologies. Contributing to the development of net-zero carbon and decarbonisation strategies. Producing technical reports and sustainability statements. Working closely with mechanical, electrical and architectural design teams to integrate sustainable design solutions. Supporting BREEAM, LEED or other environmental certification processes where required. Conducting site visits and gathering information to support project delivery. Keeping up to date with emerging technologies, sustainability standards and industry best practice.What you'll need to succeed Degree-qualified in Building Services Engineering, Energy Engineering, Sustainable Energy, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline. Previous experience within building services, energy consultancy or sustainability engineering is desirable but not essential. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. An interest in energy efficiency, decarbonisation and sustainable building design. Good report-writing and communication skills. Experience with energy modelling or simulation software would be advantageous. Ability to work as part of a collaborative project team.
