I'm recruiting for a HSE Coordinator to join a growing specialist engineering business operating across technically demanding construction and engineering projects throughout the UK.This is a great opportunity for someone with around 1-3 years' experience in Health & Safety who already has an understanding of construction H&S and now wants to build their career within a business where they'll get plenty of practical, site-based exposure. The RoleUnlike a more senior HSE Business Partner position, this role is very much hands-on and site focused. You'll spend a large proportion of your time travelling to live sites, working alongside operational teams and helping ensure projects are being delivered safely and in line with company procedures and construction H&S requirements. Your responsibilities will include: Carrying out regular site inspections and H&S monitoring Identifying hazards, unsafe practices and areas for improvement Supporting site teams with day-to-day Health & Safety queries Reviewing and supporting the implementation of RAMS Supporting compliance with CDM requirements Assisting with accident and incident investigations Helping monitor subcontractor H&S performance Supporting site inductions, toolbox talks and safety initiatives Attending site and pre-start meetings where required Helping promote a positive Health & Safety culture across projects Feeding findings and recommendations back to the wider HSE teamThe position will involve regular travel to sites, so you need to be comfortable being out on the road and working directly with site teams rather than being predominantly office based. What I'm Looking For Ideally, you'll have: Around 1-3 years' experience within a Health & Safety position Some exposure to construction, engineering, M&E or another project-led environment An understanding of construction Health & Safety and CDM Experience carrying out, or assisting with, site inspections An understanding of RAMS and site-based risk management A relevant Health & Safety qualification, ideally NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent A proactive personality and confidence communicating with people on site A full UK driving licenceYou don't need to be the finished article. The biggest thing here is finding someone with the right foundations who wants to develop. Development & Progression One of the biggest attractions of this opportunity is the support around you. You'll work alongside experienced HSE Business Partners and report into a Head of HSE with more than 20 years' industry experience, giving you the opportunity to learn from an established HSE function rather than being left to figure things out yourself. The business is committed to developing its own people and will support further professional training and qualifications. For someone ambitious, there is a clear longer-term pathway to develop. Package Competitive Salary Generous car allowance or company car Further professional training and development Clear progression opportunities Exposure to major construction and specialist engineering projects across the UK Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
