A well-established and highly respected Norfolk-based contractor is seeking an Estimator to join its pre-construction team. The business has built an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality projects across a variety of sectors, with particular expertise in heritage restoration, refurbishment, traditional construction and timber frame projects. With a strong pipeline of secured work and longstanding client relationships, the company continues to grow whilst maintaining the quality and craftsmanship that has helped establish its reputation throughout East Anglia. Their projects range from listed building restorations and complex refurbishment schemes through to bespoke new build developments, providing a varied and interesting portfolio of work. As Estimator, you will play a key role in the successful procurement of projects from initial enquiry through to tender submission. You will be responsible for preparing detailed and accurate estimates, reviewing tender documentation and supporting the wider team in securing future work. Your responsibilities will include: Preparing competitive tenders and detailed cost estimates. Reviewing drawings, specifications and project documentation. Producing quantity take-offs and material schedules. Obtaining and evaluating quotations from subcontractors and suppliers. Identifying project risks and value engineering opportunities. Attending site visits and pre-tender meetings where required. Working closely with Directors, Project Managers and Commercial teams throughout the bid process. Supporting project handovers to operational teams following successful tender awards. Maintaining awareness of current market rates and construction costs.This role is predominantly office-based within the Norwich area. Whilst there may be occasional flexibility where appropriate, candidates should be comfortable working primarily from the office, as limited hybrid working is available. To be successful in this role, you will ideally have previous estimating experience within the construction industry and be confident pricing a range of building projects. You will also ideally have:- Experience working for a main contractor or specialist construction business. A strong understanding of construction methods and building processes. The ability to interpret drawings, specifications and tender information. Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail. Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills. Good communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software. Experience in heritage, restoration, refurbishment or timber frame construction would be highly advantageous but is not essential. What you'll get in return:- Competitive salary and benefits package.
