My client, a nationally respected building services consultancy, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team in the Greater Southampton area. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects with a strong focus on decarbonisation and sustainability.
About the Role: The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects across a variety of sectors. Current and upcoming projects include:
- Decarbonisation schemes for hospitals and public sector estates
- New-build educational facilities
- Healthcare infrastructure upgrades
This role is ideally suited to an Intermediate to Senior level Mechanical Engineer with a passion for sustainable design and a desire to work on technically challenging and meaningful projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design of mechanical systems including HVAC, heating, cooling, and ventilation
- Production of detailed design drawings and specifications
- Collaboration with electrical engineers and other disciplines
- Site visits, surveys, and client meetings
- Supporting junior engineers and contributing to technical development
Requirements:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)
- Proven experience in mechanical design within a consultancy environment
- Strong understanding of UK building regulations and CIBSE guidelines
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and IES or similar
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
