An organisation operating across the Liverpool region is seeking an experienced Temporary CDM Advisor (6-12 Months initially) to support a live portfolio of construction and refurbishment projects. The role is client-side and will focus on providing robust CDM advice, contractor oversight, and practical health and safety support across multiple sites. This role is home-based with regular travel to sites in Liverpool.
This is a delivery-focused position, well suited to a construction-experienced H&S professional or CDM specialist who is comfortable operating at pace, engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, and applying CDM principles pragmatically on site.
Key Responsibilities- Provide competent client-side CDM advice across multiple construction and refurbishment projects.
- Act as a point of contact for CDM matters, supporting duty holders in meeting their obligations under CDM 2015.
- Review and comment on pre-construction information, construction phase plans, RAMS, and design risk information.
- Offer oversight and assurance of contractor activities, promoting safe systems of work and compliance with agreed standards.
- Undertake site inspections and audits, identifying issues and supporting timely, proportionate corrective actions.
- Engage positively with Principal Contractors, designers, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
- Support coordination between design and construction teams to ensure risks are eliminated or reduced so far as reasonably practicable.
- Provide clear, practical advice and reporting suitable for a client-side environment.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of construction health and safety management arrangements.
- Strong construction health and safety background, with demonstrable CDM experience.
- Previous experience in a client-side CDM or advisor role is highly advantageous.
- Comfortable overseeing contractors and challenging constructively where required.
- Good working knowledge of refurbishment projects as well as new build environments.
- Confident communicator, able to adapt style when dealing with senior stakeholders, contractors, and site teams.
- Practical, solutions-focused approach rather than purely theoretical CDM interpretation.
- Able to work autonomously across a portfolio of projects.
- Former operational health and safety professional from a construction background.
- Dedicated CDM Advisor or CDM Consultant.
- Experience working for or alongside clients, local authorities, estates teams, or public sector organisations.
