An established organisation within the property and construction sector is seeking an experienced Buyer to join its supply chain team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a procurement professional with experience purchasing construction materials, maintenance products and subcontract services to play a key role in managing supplier relationships, driving commercial savings and supporting business-critical projects.
Working closely with operational, commercial and maintenance teams, you will ensure materials and services are procured efficiently, competitively and in line with business requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Manage procurement activities across construction materials, maintenance products, plant, services and subcontract packages.
- Source and negotiate with suppliers to secure the best value, quality and service.
- Lead tendering processes, quotations and supplier selection exercises.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
- Support contract management activities and supplier performance reviews.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, supply chain efficiencies and improved service delivery.
- Work with operational teams to understand project requirements and procurement needs.
- Monitor market trends, supplier performance and material costs.
- Produce procurement reports and maintain accurate sourcing and savings records.
- Ensure procurement activities are carried out in line with company procedures and governance requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain function.
- Previous experience as a Buyer within construction, housing, property maintenance or a related sector.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, building products and supply chain management.
- Experience running tender processes and managing supplier relationships.
- Commercially focused with strong negotiation skills.
- Ability to identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and service standards.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and procurement systems.
- Able to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- CIPS qualified, studying towards qualification, or willing to work towards accreditation.
