Join an exciting new residential acquisition programme within a large, vibrant Property Services department within Local Government. We are seeking an experienced Senior MRICS Residential Surveyor to play a leading role in an ambitious new acquisition programme focused on purchasing residential housing blocks and individual homes to support the growth of the council housing portfolio. This is a unique opportunity for a commercially astute property professional with strong residential surveying expertise and, ideally, experience in property acquisitions and disposals.

The Role

  • Lead the acquisition of residential housing blocks and individual homes.
  • Identify, assess and appraise prospective acquisition opportunities.
  • Undertake valuations and provide strategic property advice.
  • Manage the end-to-end acquisition process, including negotiations and completion.
  • Support disposal activity where required to optimise portfolio performance.
  • Coordinate due diligence activities, including surveys, title reviews and risk assessments.
  • Build strong relationships with agents, developers, legal teams and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare business cases and reports to support investment decisions.
  • Monitor market trends and identify opportunities to maximise value and achieve programme objectives.
  • Ensure all transactions comply with relevant legislation, governance requirements and internal policies.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Essential: MRICS qualified (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors).
  • Significant experience within residential property surveying.
  • Strong understanding of residential valuations and property transactions.
  • Experience managing complex property projects and negotiations.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and analytical skills.
  • Ability to prepare high-quality reports and present recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Desirable: Experience working within local government, housing, public sector or institutional investment environments.
  • Knowledge of affordable housing, residential development or asset management programmes.
  • Experience acquiring multi-unit residential blocks and individual dwellings.
