Make a difference across the Defence Estate

Are you a Surveyor with a background in construction, engineering or the built environment? Are you looking for a role that combines technical surveying, extensive travel and the opportunity to work across some of the UK's most important operational sites?

Our Client is looking for an Asset Surveyor to join our growing Asset Management team on an initial 12-month Fixed Term Contract, with scope for the role to become permanent. This is a mobile position, with constant travel across the UK. The successful candidate will ideally be based in the Midlands and must be committed to extensive travel, including overnight stays where required. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.

The Role

Working as part of a dedicated surveying team, you'll travel from site to site alongside the Senior Asset Surveyor and fellow Surveyors, carrying out detailed asset surveys across the Defence built estate. You'll be responsible for identifying assets, verifying locations, applying asset tags and accurately capturing information. You'll also review existing records, identify missing or incorrect data and highlight discrepancies for further investigation. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), clients, site teams and other stakeholders, building strong professional relationships while ensuring survey activity is delivered safely, accurately and to the required standards. You'll benefit from the technical input and guidance of the Senior Asset Surveyor, while developing your own knowledge and experience across a wide range of assets and operational environments.

What are we looking for?

We're particularly interested in candidates who have previous surveying experience within construction, the built environment or a related technical discipline. Experience of asset surveys, inspections, tagging, audits, data collection or asset management would be highly beneficial. You'll need excellent attention to detail, good literacy and numeracy skills and confidence using digital tools, spreadsheets, mobile devices or survey data capture systems. The ability to identify inconsistencies and accurately record information is essential. We're looking for someone who is practical, reliable and comfortable working outdoors and across live operational sites. You'll need to be confident travelling extensively, working as part of a small team and following established processes and safety requirements. Previous Defence or DIO experience would be advantageous but is not essential. BPSS clearance is required as a minimum, with additional clearance potentially required for specific sites or customer environments.

If you're an experienced Surveyor who enjoys being out on site and is interested in career development, travelling to new locations and wants to contribute to an important programme across the UK Defence estate, this could be the perfect next opportunity.
