Our client is an established and growing main contractor delivering a diverse range of construction, refurbishment and fit-out projects across the UK. Working within sectors including retail, healthcare, Ministry of Defence (MoD), Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and wider public and private sector environments, they have built a strong reputation for quality, repeat business and long-term client relationships. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an ambitious commercial leader to oversee a team of Quantity Surveyors while playing a key role in the strategic development of the business. This is a rare opportunity for someone who wants to progress into senior leadership and ultimately Director-level responsibility over the next 5-10 years. The Role As Senior / Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will lead the commercial function across multiple projects, ensuring strong financial performance, commercial compliance and effective team management. Key responsibilities include: Leading and mentoring a team of Quantity Surveyors Managing the commercial performance of live refurbishment, fit-out and new build projects Cost planning, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting Preparing and agreeing valuations, applications for payment and final accounts Procuring and managing subcontractor packages Managing variations, change control and contractual risk Ensuring compliance with JCT contracts and supporting NEC-based projects where required Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners Supporting business growth and contributing to long-term commercial strategy About You We're keen to speak with experienced Quantity Surveyors who possess strong leadership ability and a genuine ambition to progress their career. You will ideally have: Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, Managing Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager within construction Background in commercial construction, refurbishment and fit-out projects Experience leading or mentoring surveying teams Strong understanding of JCT contracts Knowledge or exposure to NEC contracts Excellent commercial, financial and contractual awareness Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Desire to progress into a senior leadership and director-level position Experience working within healthcare, MoD, MoJ, public sector or framework environments would be advantageous but is not essential.
