We are working with a specialist contractor based in West London who is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Site Manager / Site Manager to support the delivery of a technically demanding £12m laboratory fit-out project in King's Cross, London. This is a long-term freelance opportunity running through to summer 2027, with the role focused on the delivery of a high-spec laboratory and cleanroom scheme. The project will include CAT 5/6 cleanroom environments, specialist lab spaces and associated fit-out works within a tight central London site.

The successful candidate will report into a visiting Contracts Manager and will be responsible for driving day-to-day delivery on site, ensuring works are completed safely, to programme and to the required quality standards.

The Role

  • Managing day-to-day site operations on a £12m laboratory fit-out project
  • Overseeing the delivery of cleanroom and high-specification laboratory areas
  • Coordinating subcontractors and ensuring works are delivered to programme
  • Maintaining high standards of health & safety across a tight London site
  • Managing site logistics, access, sequencing and coordination of trades
  • Producing, reviewing and managing permits to work
  • Ensuring quality standards are achieved across all areas of delivery
  • Reporting progress, issues and site updates to the visiting Contracts Manager
  • Working closely with the wider project team to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Supporting snagging, handover and close-out processes as the project progresses

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Senior Site Manager or Site Manager
  • Experience delivering laboratory, cleanroom, healthcare, pharmaceutical, science, technology or high-spec fit-out projects
  • Strong understanding of health & safety requirements on live construction sites
  • Ability to produce, manage and understand permits to work
  • Experience managing subcontractors and driving site delivery
  • Strong eye for quality and attention to detail
  • Ability to work on a tight site with complex logistics
  • Good communication and reporting skills
  • SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid preferred
