Housing Maintenance Officer Horsham Temporary 8 weeks initially while they recruit permanently £20 PAYE per hour DL and Vehicle essential The successful candidate will manage maintenance of our clients 60 houses used for temporary accommodation, affordable accommodation and resettlement accommodation. The position is mainly office-based, but on occasion there will be a need to visit properties. Support and assist the Property & Facilities Manager with the delivery of repairs and maintenance of the residential portfolio and ensure that repairs are completed on time and to a high standard. Monitor and supervise contractors undertaking repairs and maintenance and ensure the safety, certification, quality and completion of all works before final invoices are paid and in line with agreed costs and our approved budgets. Provide advice, guidance and permission in line with relevant policies and procedures such as alterations or rechargeable repairs to ensure that a consistent service is provided. Assist in the delivery of projects within the residential portfolio, for example those which are required to ensure that the properties remain accessible and meet the customers' changing needs, and those which are part of the Council's carbon reduction plans. Deliver excellent customer service, to ensure that we meet our agreed Key Performance Indicators, Service Level Agreements and comply with the relevant legislation. Carry out inspections of vacant premises to meet the requirements of the Council's insurers. Prepare schedules of work for larger repair works. Procure specialist surveys (e.g. asbestos) and procure and appoint specialist external advisors as required (e.g. structural engineers, M&E engineers, building surveyors).
