Regional Housebuilder

Are you an Estimator looking to move into a role where you can influence land acquisition decisions, shape project viability, and play a key role in delivering profitable residential developments? Our client is a successful regional housebuilder with a strong pipeline of developments across Yorkshire and the North of England. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an Estimator to support the pre-construction and land teams by producing accurate cost appraisals and development estimates for both new land opportunities and live schemes. This is an excellent opportunity for an Estimator with a background in residential construction, groundworks, civil engineering, or housebuilding who enjoys the commercial side of construction and wants to be involved in the early stages of project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost plans and development appraisals for proposed residential schemes.
  • Analyse land opportunities and provide robust cost advice to support land acquisition and bidding decisions.
  • Produce estimates using Excel-based appraisal models and estimating software.
  • Carry out detailed quantity take-offs using Bluebeam software.
  • Work closely with Engineers, Architects, Technical and Commercial teams to identify value engineering opportunities.
  • Review infrastructure, drainage and groundworks proposals to ensure below-ground costs are accurately assessed.
  • Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers and consultants to benchmark rates and maintain current market pricing data.
  • Support the ongoing implementation and use of Evaluate Estimating Software and Dimtronics.
  • Provide cost advice throughout the planning and design development stages.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience as an Estimator, Cost Planner, Quantity Surveyor or Civil Engineering Estimator.
  • Experience within housebuilding, residential development, groundworks, civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of below-ground construction costs, roads, drainage and external works.
  • Excellent Excel skills and experience preparing detailed cost plans.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience using Bluebeam, Evaluate, ConQuest, Candy or similar estimating software would be advantageous.
  • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
