An established and highly regarded financial services organisation, based in Grimsby, are looking to recruit an experienced Financial Controller on a permanent basis. The business is part of a wider group and is recognised for its strong governance, long-term stability and specialist expertise in finance solutions.

A newly created opportunity has arisen for an experienced and ideally qualified Financial Controller to join the finance team based in Grimsby. Reporting into the senior leadership team, this is a key role responsible for leading the finance and treasury functions, delivering high-quality financial insight. You will play a critical role in supporting senior stakeholders with commercial analysis, strategic decision-making and financial governance.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare and review statutory financial statements in line with IFRS and UK-adopted international accounting standards
  • Maintain full balance sheet integrity, including complex reconciliations and judgement-based areas
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and ensure robust documentation of treatments
  • Review outputs produced by the Finance Team, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies
  • Drive improvements in finance systems, reporting processes and data quality
  • Act as the primary contact for external auditors, managing all audit interactions
  • Lead audit planning, fieldwork coordination and delivery of required schedules
  • Prepare supporting documentation and respond to technical audit queries
  • Implement audit recommendations and strengthen internal controls where needed
  • Support the preparation and review of corporation tax returns, VAT submissions, and other statutory filings
  • Liaise with external tax advisors and regulatory bodies
  • Ensure all tax reporting is completed accurately and on time, maintaining full compliance with HMRC and internal governance standards

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA) or Part Qualified or QBE
  • Proven experience in a senior finance role and strong IFRS knowledge
  • Advanced Excel capability and confidence using Microsoft Office tools
  • Experience working with finance systems, reporting tools and consolidation software
  • High levels of accuracy, professionalism and stakeholder engagement
