A leading UK infrastructure services provider is seeking an experienced Highways Supervisor to support a growing portfolio of highways maintenance and infrastructure projects across Glasgow and the South West of Scotland. Working across multiple operational sites, you will play a key role in ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established delivery team working on a variety of highways, maintenance and civil engineering schemes within live operational environments.
As Highways Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day site operations across a number of active projects, travelling between locations to provide supervisory support, ensure safe working practices and assist site management teams in delivering works efficiently and to programme.
Key Responsibilities- Supervising highways maintenance and civil engineering activities across multiple sites.
- Providing leadership and guidance to operatives, gangs and subcontractors.
- Ensuring works are carried out in accordance with approved RAMS, permits and company procedures.
- Leading daily briefings, toolbox talks and safety discussions.
- Monitoring productivity, quality standards and programme performance.
- Conducting regular site inspections, audits and safety observations.
- Supporting Site Managers and operational teams with planning and resource allocation.
- Coordinating labour, plant, materials and subcontractors to maximise efficiency.
- Liaising with clients, stakeholders and traffic management teams where required.
- Maintaining accurate site records, reports and health & safety documentation.
- Identifying and resolving on-site issues while maintaining programme delivery.
- Promoting a positive health, safety and environmental culture at all times.
- Previous experience as a Highways Supervisor, General Foreman, Works Supervisor or similar position.
- Strong background delivering highways maintenance, infrastructure or civil engineering works.
- Experience working within live traffic-managed environments.
- Proven ability to supervise direct labour, subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation.
- Ability to work independently across multiple locations.
- Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel throughout the region.
- SSSTS or SMSTS
- CSCS Supervisor Card (or equivalent)
- First Aid at Work
- Full UK Driving Licence
- NRSWA Supervisor
- Temporary Works Supervisor
- NHSS Sector Scheme experience
- Traffic Management qualifications
- Experience working on term maintenance or highways frameworks
