Hays are working with a leading facilities management provider to recruit an experienced Gas Responsible Person to support the safe management, operation and compliance of gas networks across a designated estate in Cambridgeshire. This is a key technical role where you will act as the appointed point of contact for gas-related matters, providing specialist advice, assurance and support to operational teams, contractors, stakeholders and end users.
As the Gas Responsible Person, you will provide technical leadership and assurance for gas safety across multiple sites. You will support the delivery of safe and compliant gas services, helping to implement and maintain gas safety procedures, safe systems of work, permits and supporting documentation. You will work closely with operational teams, site stakeholders, suppliers and client representatives to ensure gas assets and infrastructure remain safe, compliant and effectively managed. The role will also include supporting maintenance and project activity, reviewing documentation and contributing to risk management processes.
Key responsibilities:- Provide technical guidance and assurance on gas safety across the estate.
- Support the implementation and review of Gas Safety Management Plans.
- Review and manage safe systems of work, permits, risk assessments and method statements.
- Assess the competence of Gas Skilled Persons and support training and development where required.
- Provide gas-related input into maintenance, project and operational activities.
- Support audits, inspections, risk meetings and corrective action processes.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams, contractors, suppliers and stakeholders to improve gas safety performance.
What you'll need to succeed:
- Strong experience in gas safety management across commercial and domestic environments.
- Knowledge of gas distribution networks, gas utilisation systems and LPG installations.
- Experience working with Gas Safety Management Plans and safe control of operations.
- Confident reviewing standards of work, assessing competence and supporting compliance.
- Strong understanding of safe systems of work, permits, risk assessments and method statements.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence engineers, managers, clients and contractors.
- Organised, proactive and safety-focused approach.
- Experience in an MOD or similarly regulated environment would be advantageous.
- Relevant gas qualifications and the ability to achieve and maintain SC clearance.
Please note: Candidates must be based no more than one hour's drive from Bassingbourn Barracks, RAF Wyton or Carver Barracks and be comfortable with regular travel across sites.
