Project Director | Bristol Salary: £100,000 to £120,000 + Car Allowance + Pension Location: Bristol Project Value: £100m+ The Opportunity Hays Construction is working with an established national main contractor to appoint a Project Director for a major £100m+ programme in Bristol. As the senior project lead, you will take overall responsibility for the delivery strategy, site-based management team, client relationship and operational performance of the scheme. This is a long-term opportunity to lead a major project through its key delivery stages, supported by an experienced commercial, design and operational team. The Project This is a multi-phase construction programme being delivered across a large operational estate in the Bristol area. The scheme combines major new-build development with the refurbishment and upgrade of existing facilities. The project includes several delivery areas, complex building services and specialist construction packages. Work will take place alongside ongoing operations, requiring careful planning and coordination of logistics, programme, design and technical interfaces. The scope includes: Major new-build and refurbishment works Highly serviced and technically complex facilities Multiple delivery areas across an operational estate Significant mechanical, electrical and specialist packages Complex logistics, phasing and programme coordination Management of specialist subcontractors and supply-chain partners High standards of quality, health and safety, and compliance The Role As Project Director, you will provide overall leadership across the programme and ensure the different delivery areas remain coordinated and on schedule. You will lead an established site-based team comprising several Package Managers, supported by dedicated commercial and design teams. You will bring these functions together, maintain control of the overall programme and provide clear direction throughout delivery. Your responsibilities will include: Leading the overall delivery of the £100m+ programme Managing the site-based Package Managers and wider project team Working closely with the commercial and design teams Managing the supply chain and specialist subcontract packages Maintaining control of programme, sequencing, logistics and project risk Coordinating design and technical interfaces across the scheme Managing relationships with the client, consultants and senior stakeholders Monitoring commercial and operational performance Ensuring quality, health and safety, and compliance standards are maintained Reporting on progress, risks and key project milestones About You You will be an experienced Project Director or senior construction professional with a strong record of leading large and technically demanding projects. You should be able to demonstrate: Experience leading major construction projects or programmes valued at £60m+ A background in both new-build construction and complex refurbishment Experience managing large site-based teams and multiple delivery areas Strong programme, commercial and risk-management skills Experience working within a live or operational environment The ability to manage senior client, consultant and stakeholder relationships Clear leadership and the ability to bring different project functions together A strong understanding of design coordination, building services and specialist packages Apply For a confidential discussion about this Project Director opportunity, please apply below or contact James Mitchell at Hays Construction.
