We are recruiting on behalf of a highly respected SME building services and sustainability consultancy, recognised for delivering innovative mechanical, electrical, and public health engineering solutions across complex, high-performance environments. The business operates across multiple UK offices and has a growing international footprint, supporting projects throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Their expertise spans technically demanding sectors including defence, healthcare, data centres, and infrastructure. As part of continued expansion, the business has recently established a new Birmingham office, strengthening its national presence. With an Electrical Director already in place, they are now looking to grow the mechanical team, with opportunities available at both Senior and Associate level.
Depending on your experience, you will play a key role in delivering and shaping the mechanical offering within the Birmingham office. You will:
- Deliver high-quality mechanical building services design across complex and mission-critical projects
- Take ownership of projects or packages, from concept through to completion
- Support (Senior level) or lead (Associate level) technical delivery and project coordination
- Work closely with senior leadership to develop the regional capability
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Mentor and support junior engineers, contributing to team development
- Drive sustainable and efficient engineering solutions in line with modern design standards
At Associate level, you will also contribute to team leadership, business development, and regional growth strategy.
What you'll need to succeed
Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (£48k - £60k):
- Strong building services design experience within a consultancy environment
- Proven ability to deliver projects and manage your own workload
- Good technical grounding across HVAC and mechanical systems
- Client-facing experience and strong communication skills
- Working towards or holding Chartered status (preferred)
Associate Mechanical Engineer (up to £65k):
- Extensive experience delivering complex projects and leading teams
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to support business development
- Proven leadership and mentoring capability
- Established client relationship management experience
- Chartered (CEng / MCIBSE) or close to achieving
