Due to continued growth within its Midlands Building Services team, an opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Building Services Engineer to join either the Birmingham or Nottingham office.
Your new role involves becoming part of a well-established team delivering projects from initial feasibility through to completion. Working alongside mechanical, electrical, civil and structural engineers, you will contribute to the design and delivery of innovative building services solutions across a diverse range of sectors. You will play a key role in developing sustainable engineering designs, supporting clients in achieving their net zero carbon ambitions and helping drive digital engineering innovation across projects.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Delivering mechanical building services design across all project stages.
- Producing engineering calculations, technical specifications and design reports.
- Designing systems including heating, cooling, ventilation, public health and specialist building services installations.
- Supporting multidisciplinary project teams on complex engineering projects.
- Assisting clients in meeting sustainability and low-carbon design objectives.
- Working within BIM environments and contributing to coordinated digital design delivery.
- Utilising software such as Revit and IES where appropriate.
- Supporting the development of graduates and apprentices through mentoring and technical guidance.
- Contributing to technical excellence and continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
- Engaging with clients and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
What you'll need to succeed:
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience delivering mechanical building services designs on medium to large-scale projects.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design calculations and technical report writing.
- Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and CIBSE guidance.
- Experience incorporating low and zero carbon technologies into building services designs.
- Proficiency working within BIM environments, including Revit.
- Experience using dynamic thermal modelling software such as IES would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to mentor and support junior engineers and technicians.
- Progression towards Chartered Engineer status with CIBSE, IMechE or a similar professional institution would be desirable.
