You will be joining a well-established and highly respected civil engineering contractor based in Birmingham, renowned for delivering high-quality infrastructure projects across the Midlands region. This award-winning and multi-accredited contractor is well-known for their commitment to quality, safety and innovation as well as valuing its people and investing in their professional development. They have a strong pipeline of work, offer excellent opportunities for career progression and, as part of their continued growth, they are actively seeking a Foreman to join their delivery team.
This is a full-time permanent position based initially on a pumping station project in the Birmingham area.
As Foreman, you will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of site activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to programme. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will coordinate subcontractors, direct labour and plant resources whilst maintaining the highest standards across site operations.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supervising and coordinating daily site activities
- Managing subcontractors, direct workforce and site resources
- Ensuring compliance with HSEQ standards
- Delivering works in line with programme requirements and project specifications
- Conducting site briefings, toolbox talks and daily workforce coordination
- Monitoring productivity and identifying opportunities to improve site performance
- Liaising with engineers, commercial teams and project management staff
- Recording site progress, labour allocation and plant utilisation
- Supporting the delivery of civil engineering works associated with pumping stations, drainage, pipelines, reinforced concrete structures and associated infrastructure.
In order to be successful, you will bring:
- Proven experience working as a Foreman within civil engineering
- Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete structures, deep excavations, drainage, pipework and associated heavy civils activities
- Experience managing direct labour and subcontractors on site
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and construction programmes
- Sound leadership, communication and organisational skills
- CSCS, SSSTS/SMSTS, First Aid and full UK driving licence.
