Your new company Hays are working in partnership with a well-established Northern Ireland consultancy to recruit a Civil Engineer, serving clients across the UK and Ireland. The firm delivers a wide range of civil and structural projects, from domestic builds to large city developments offering expertise in drainage, roads, SuDS, and modern construction methods, backed by strong industry experience and quality certifications.

Your new role Due to increased workload, our client seeks an energetic and motivated civil engineer to join their team in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Key Responsibilities of a Civil Engineer:
  • Undertaking concept work, sketching and preparing drawings.
  • Undertaking infrastructure design including highways, drainage, SUDS systems, etc.
  • Overseeing and working with a team of graduate engineers and technicians.
  • Liaising with wider design team, public bodies and clients.
  • Working with Local Authorities and Water Companies.
  • Attendance at project and site meetings.
What you'll need to succeed:

To be successful for this role, our client is looking for candidates with:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or a related field.
  • Master's degree is a plus.
  • Actively working towards chartered status.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in civil design software (e.g., Civil3d, Naviswork, REVIT, Microdrainage).
  • Strong knowledge of relevant design codes and standards (e.g., Eurocodes, British Standards).
  • Excellent project management and leadership skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
