Your new company Hays are working in conjunction with a business in Shrewsbury who are looking for a driven, commercially minded Lead Generation & Market Research Executive to play a pivotal role in supporting their business development strategy and future growth. This position sits at the heart of the sales and marketing function, focusing on identifying and engaging prospective customers, researching target markets, and building high-quality prospect databases.

Working closely with the Head of Marketing and New Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for uncovering new opportunities, identifying key decision makers, and ensuring our sales pipeline is fuelled with accurate, actionable intelligence. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys investigative research, building relationships over the phone, and contributing directly to business growth.

Your new role

  • Conduct detailed market research to identify organisations that align with our target sectors, ideal customer profiles and growth strategy.
  • Proactively contact prospective organisations to identify and verify key decision makers, organisational structures and relevant business information.
  • Build, develop and maintain high-quality prospecting databases using a range of data enrichment and lead generation tools.
  • Utilise LinkedIn Sales Navigator to support targeted account research, prospect identification and opportunity generation.
  • Gather, validate and enrich prospect information from multiple data sources to ensure accuracy and relevance.
  • Maintain and update prospect and customer records within Salesforce CRM, ensuring all information is accurate and current.
  • Create and assign call activities, follow-up actions and sales opportunities for the New Business Development Manager.
  • Support the development of targeted prospecting campaigns through effective data research and market intelligence.
  • Continually seek ways to improve lead generation processes, data quality and overall prospecting effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, values and professional standards at all times.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience within lead generation, business development support, telemarketing, sales administration, market research or data research.
  • Proven ability to confidently engage with businesses by telephone and build rapport with key contacts.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to research and data management.
  • Experience using CRM systems, ideally Salesforce.
  • Ability to research, verify and manage information from multiple sources.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Highly organised with strong administrative and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated, resilient and target-driven with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively within a team environment.
