Your new company is a well-established and growing organisation in the recruitment of a Financial Accountant to join their finance team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated finance professional to join a collaborative and forward-thinking business that is committed to continuous improvement and high standards of financial reporting. The organisation offers hybrid working: 3 days in the office and 2 days from home. The offices are based in Port Glasgow and are easily accessible via public transport with on-site parking.
This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in financial reporting, compliance and process improvement, whilst working closely with experienced finance professionals.
Your new role
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of financial records and supporting the delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting. Key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and posting month-end journal entries
- Supporting the timely and accurate month-end close process
- Performing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations
- Ensuring financial records are accurate, complete and compliant
- Assisting with the preparation of management accounts
- Supporting the production of statutory financial statements
- Ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards
- Assisting with internal and external audit requirements
- Identifying opportunities to improve financial reporting processes and controls
- Collaborating with colleagues across the wider finance function to drive best practice and continuous improvement
What you'll need to succeed
You will possess previous experience in a financial accounting, reporting or general ledger position. This role is suited to part-qualified candidates, qualified-by-experience professionals and also qualified accountants. You will also demonstrate:
- Strong understanding of financial controls and accounting principles
- Experience supporting month-end and year-end reporting activities
- Excellent balance sheet reconciliation skills
- Strong Excel and ERP systems knowledge
- Experience working within multi-entity environments would be advantageous
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines
- High levels of attention to detail and accuracy
- A collaborative approach with strong communication skills
- Resilience, adaptability and a proactive mindset to problem-solving
