We are recruiting for an Assistant Project Accountant to join a busy and expanding finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong grounding in finance and accounting who enjoys working with project-based financial data, supporting month-end processes, and partnering with stakeholders across the business.
The Opportunity
Working closely with senior finance professionals, you'll play a key role in supporting the accounting and reporting behind a diverse portfolio of projects, ranging from short-term assignments through to large-scale, multi-year contracts. This is a varied and hands-on role offering exposure to:
- Revenue recognition and contract accounting
- Project cost accounting and financial reporting
- Month-end journals and balance sheet reconciliations
- Work in progress (WIP), accrued and deferred revenue accounting
- Client invoicing and payment applications
- Timesheet, utilisation and project performance reporting
- Financial analysis and project profitability reporting
- Audit support and year-end preparation
- Process improvement and systems development initiatives
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly project accounting schedules and revenue calculations
- Maintain WIP, accrued income and deferred revenue reporting
- Support month-end close activities, journals and reconciliations
- Assist with project cost accruals and project profitability analysis
- Produce project reporting and financial insights for stakeholders
- Monitor timesheet accuracy and utilisation reporting
- Process client invoices and support query resolution
- Reconcile project ledgers and investigate variances
- Support finance process improvements and system enhancements
About You
We’re keen to hear from candidates with experience in:
- Assisting in Project accounting
- Assisting in management accounts, financial accounting or contract accounting environments
- Month-end processes, reconciliations and journal preparation
- Revenue recognition, WIP accounting or project reporting
- ERP systems and strong Excel skills
- Working with large volumes of financial and operational data
- Building relationships across finance and operational teams
