Your new company Hays are delighted to be working with a well-established public sector organisation in the Dundee and Angus area to recruit an Insurance Officer on an ongoing temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity to join an experienced and supportive team, with an initial assignment of approximately six months and the potential for the requirement to continue. The organisation supports hybrid working, with an expectation of approximately 1-2 days per week in the office and the remainder working remotely. Your new role As Insurance Officer, you will provide a comprehensive insurance and claims handling service, supporting a varied portfolio across areas including liability, property and motor insurance. You will manage claims from initial notification through investigation and resolution, ensuring that information is accurate, complete and handled within appropriate timescales. A key part of the role will involve reviewing claims and supporting information, assessing liability and liaising with insurers, claims handlers, third parties and internal stakeholders. You will also assist with documentation and the preparation of management information. This is a varied position which requires excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage a busy workload independently. You will work with potentially complex and sensitive information, so accuracy, sound judgement and a professional approach to customer service will be particularly important. What you'll need to succeed Previous insurance experience is essential for this post. Ideally, you will have experience of handling claims across different classes of insurance and a good understanding of insurance principles, policies and liability. Experience gained within local government or the wider public sector would be particularly relevant, although candidates from broader insurance, claims or brokerage backgrounds are also encouraged to apply. You will be highly organised, comfortable managing competing priorities and confident working on your own initiative with minimal supervision. Strong customer service and communication skills are important, along with good numeracy, digital skills and experience of Microsoft Office packages. What you'll get in return You will receive an excellent opportunity to secure an ongoing temporary assignment with an initial duration of approximately six months, working in a specialist and varied insurance role. The position offers hybrid working, typically requiring only 1-2 days per week in the Dundee office, providing a good balance between office and home working. This role offers an immediate start, competitive hourly rate of pay and weekly pay via Hays.
