Temporary Purchase Ledger Assistant

Duration: Ongoing temporary assignment

Location: Alton Area (Fully Office-Based)

Salary: £14.00 - £15.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, with some flexibility on start times

About the Role

This position sits within a busy finance team and will suit an experienced Purchase Ledger or Accounts Payable professional looking for an immediate opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing high volumes of supplier invoices accurately and efficiently
  • Matching invoices to purchase orders and delivery notes
  • Reconciling supplier statements and resolving discrepancies
  • Preparing and processing weekly and monthly payment runs
  • Managing supplier queries via telephone and email
  • Setting up and maintaining supplier accounts and records
  • Ensuring invoices are authorised in line with company procedures
  • Supporting month-end activities and reporting requirements
  • Monitoring outstanding invoices and identifying overdue balances
  • Assisting the wider finance team with ad hoc administrative duties

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous experience within a Purchase Ledger, Accounts Payable or Finance Assistant position
  • Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with suppliers and colleagues
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
  • Experience with accounting systems such as Sage, SAP, Oracle, Xero, Dynamics or similar would be advantageous
