Your new company Hays is currently recruiting for an Electoral Support Officer on behalf of a local authority in Birmingham. Your new role You\’ll be supporting the canvass of electors and helping to process a high volume of responses. A key part of the role involves assisting around 25,000 electors who need to reapply for postal votes, with a focus on encouraging early applications to avoid last-minute delays. Applications will be received both online and via paper forms, and you\’ll be responsible for ensuring these are processed accurately and efficiently. Your day-to-day tasks will include inputting data with a high level of accuracy, scanning documents, and printing letters when required. You\’ll also be expected to provide excellent customer service, particularly when responding to enquiries. Depending on how you get on, you may be asked to help manage a shared mailbox and respond to inbox queries. What you\’ll need to succeed Strong general administrative experience and excellent attention to detail. You should be confident in handling large volumes of paperwork and using scanners, and have a proven ability to input data accurately. Good customer service skills are essential, especially when dealing with written enquiries. You\’ll need to be organised, able to manage your time effectively, and comfortable working to deadlines. A willingness to learn new systems and adapt to changing priorities during busy periods will be key to your success in this role.
