Your new company An established and well-respected organisation in County Durham is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join its team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional to take ownership of a busy payroll function and play a key role in delivering an accurate, compliant and customer-focused payroll service.

Working closely with senior stakeholders across finance and HR, you will ensure payroll operations run efficiently whilst maintaining compliance with all statutory requirements and employment legislation.

The Role As Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end administration and processing of payroll, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.

Key duties will include: Managing monthly payroll processing and payroll amendments.

Maintaining payroll records for starters, leavers, retirements and contractual changes.

Ensuring payroll compliance with PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, statutory payments and current employment legislation.

Producing payroll reports and management information for finance and HR teams.

Managing pension administration, reconciliations and reporting requirements.

Acting as a key contact for external agencies, including HMRC and pension providers.

Supporting payroll audits and ensuring robust control processes are maintained.

Liaising with payroll software providers and supporting system enhancements.
