A leading professional services organisation is seeking an experienced Payroll Implementation Manager to join its growing payroll solutions team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse portfolio of UK clients, leading complex payroll transitions and implementations within a collaborative and high-performing environment. The organisation is investing heavily in its payroll and managed services offering and is looking for an individual who can combine strong UK payroll expertise with excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
As Payroll Implementation Manager, you will take ownership of end-to-end payroll implementation projects, supporting new clients as they transition into a managed payroll service. You will work closely with internal specialists and client stakeholders to ensure a seamless onboarding experience and successful transition into business-as-usual operations. Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing payroll implementation projects from initial planning through to go-live.
- Working closely with clients to understand payroll requirements and develop tailored implementation plans.
- Coordinating payroll data migration activities, testing processes, parallel runs and first live payrolls.
- Managing project timelines, budgets, risks and dependencies.
- Acting as the key point of contact throughout the implementation lifecycle.
- Building strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Supporting payroll-related reporting requirements, including general ledger reporting where required.
- Ensuring smooth handover of completed implementations to operational delivery teams.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and supporting junior team members where appropriate.
To be considered for this role, you should demonstrate:
- At least five years' experience within UK payroll operations.
- Proven experience managing payroll implementation or transition projects.
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
- Experience of Auto Enrolment, Real Time Information (RTI) and Apprenticeship Levy regulations.
- A thorough understanding of payroll processes and their integration with wider business functions.
- Previous experience using iTrent payroll software is advantageous but not essential.
- Excellent project management and organisational skills.
- Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem-solving.
- CIPP qualification or equivalent payroll qualification would be advantageous.
