We are seeking an effective and organised Academy Business Manager to lead the academy's finance and administrative operations and support the Senior Leadership Team in delivering strong financial governance and efficient office services. The post holder will have overall responsibility for financial management, payroll, office administration, and business compliance, ensuring robust systems, accurate reporting, and effective day-to-day support for the academy.

  • Lead the day-to-day financial management of the academy, ensuring effective budget control and compliance with Trust and DfE requirements.
  • Prepare and present financial reports, budget monitoring information, and management accounts to support informed decision-making.
  • Work closely with the Headteacher and central finance team on budgeting, forecasting, and medium- to long-term financial planning.
  • Monitor income and expenditure, identify risks or variances, and provide clear financial analysis and commentary.
  • Oversee procurement, contracts, and asset management to ensure the best value for money.
  • Ensure accurate financial administration, including invoice processing, income management, insurance claims, and statutory returns.
  • Payroll, HR and Office Administration
    • Manage payroll administration, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with Trust policies.
    • Oversee recruitment administration, personnel records, and HR processes, including maintaining confidential staff data systems.
    • Provide advice and guidance to staff and managers on payroll and employment-related queries.
    • Manage the academy office and administrative function, ensuring high standards of organisation, communication, and record keeping.
    • Oversee telephone, ICT administration, and liaison with Trust IT providers to ensure systems remain secure and operational.

    • Be a key member of the wider leadership team, contributing to operational planning and continuous improvement.
    • Line manage administrative and operational staff, supporting performance, development, and effective service delivery.
